For our sixth gig we've put together a slightly bigger line-up than normal (four rather than three bands) due to some excellent pleading from No Ditching but as they only play for 15 minutes we should be OK! This is a family friendly matinee so everyone is welcome.

So...Sunday 23rd November at Wharf Chambers, Leeds from 1:30pm-4:15pm we have the following bands playing:

We are so happy to have got J&HJF to headline one of our gigs. Without sounding too cheesy they really are the definition of a force for good; not only are their songs incredibly catchy pop-punk reminiscent of Operation Ivy, Green Day or The Muffs but they tackle complex socio-political topics in three minutes or under!

Now in their seventh year as a band, these Yorkshire stalwarts (though now spread between Sheffield, Liverpool and London...) do a great trade in mid-paced indie influenced 'gruff' punk. They carry the stamp of approval that can only come with an album out on Leeds own Bombed Out Records and this gig offers a rare chance to see them live (in fact only the second Leeds gig they'll have played in 2014!).

Following a recent move to Leeds, Andrew has jumped in feet first, playing around Yorkshire, releasing a split 7" with Manchester's Don Blake and putting on amazing local gigs under the "Scene Better Days" moniker. Andrew plays heartfelt acoustic music with a powerful voice setting him out from the more folk based sound his guitar might hint at. Andrew's off to America to do a tour around his performance at Gainsville's The Fest so this will be a nice return home gig for him.

A last minute (but very very welcome!) addition to the line-up. No Ditching got in touch to ask if they could open up the proceedings as they'd all be at the gig anyway. What they didn't know was I really really wanted them to play one of our gigs so it's a win win! Frantic, fun pop-punk from Pity Me, Durham, the band describe themselves thus: "We are Laura, Naomi, Elle, Kate and Freya. We have a laugh." A longer description from their website is "'Peculiar snotty brilliance' from the sweatiest basement in Pity Me featuring members of Fashanu, Martha, Jazz in My Pants and Bear Park and Esh Colliery Band". Nice one! They have also promised to pipe down on their usual sweariness!

This gig will be a benefit for PAFRAS - an amazing local charity. They do phenomenal work supporting refugees, asylum seekers and the wider community in Leeds to help provide humanitarian aid, long term support and advocacy as well as awareness raising. They've recently suffered some really significant cuts to their funding so hopefully we can go some way towards raising their funds again and helping raise awareness of their great work. Therefore ALL money from this gig will be going to PAFRAS so a massive thank you to all the bands for waiving their fees. More information on PAFRAS here: http://www.pafras.org.uk/ and their will be a stall from the charity at the gig.

As usual this gig will be free entry for those 14 or under and £4 for everyone else. That Old Chestnut will be here serving up the finest vegan cakes and tiffin and we welcome everyone of all ages and abilities.

Once again a MASSIVE thanks to Will Tapply (aka Print Beast) for the ridiculously good poster design. Hire this man for your design needs!

    Bump for Sunday!

Here's a video of No Ditching who aren't on the poster but will be opening the proceedings and are well worth getting down early for:
