Come along on hear the Yorkshire Wind Orchestra and The Leeds Youth Concert Band this Sunday afternoon. The concert starts at 6pm The Yorkshire Wind Orchestra are to perform Mussorgsky’s well-known orchestral work Pictures at an Exhibition with Leeds Youth Concert Band in an exhilarating massed bands concert on Sunday 21st October at West Park Centre, Spen Lane, Leeds. The evening concert featuring both musical groups, starts at 6pm and will follow on from an earlier workshop where players from the Leeds Youth Concert band will work with the Yorkshire Wind Orchestra’s musical director, Keiron Anderson. In addition to Mussorgsky’s work, Leed’s musicians will work on music by Percy Grainger and subsequently perform them publicly alongside the Yorkshire Wind Orchestra. The evening’s programme also includes music by Gustav Holst, Kenneth Hesketh, Morten Lauridsen and Malcolm Arnold. The Yorkshire Wind Orchestra is a registered charity and two important objectives of the orchestra are to promote the work of contemporary composers and to encourage the development of young wind and percussion players in the Yorkshire region. Concert goers are encouraged to come along to the concert and hear the results of the earlier workshop. Tickets are on sale via the Yorkshire Wind Orchestra’s website priced £8 and £5 (concessions).
