It is really good to hear that these venues are coming back together. Just please please please keep the indie gigs monthly to keep the quality up. Maybe an awesome blues night?

    Your wish is delivered Sir....

    www.facebook.com/events/1446772525598528/

Featuring The Rusty Nails Band, Julian Socha, and Ben "Blue" Waters .

RUSTY NAILS BAND - Headliners. Nothing rusty about these guys, many years of playing together have made them a slick, well oiled blues machine. Led by the inimitable Chris Martin, whose humorous patter will have you laughing out loud, when you're not boogie-ing your socks off. With an ultra tight rhythm section and stinging guitar playing, the Rusty Nails are the best electric blues band in Yorkshire.

JULIAN SOCHA - main support. Julian is one of those guitarists with such natural fluent ability that it makes you wanna put your guitar away and stash it under the bed. He mixes up blues, country, jazz and folk styles, often in the same song. You won't believe your ears.

BEN BLUE WATERS - Host and opening act. Ben plays no nonsense footstomping slide guitar blues with passion, performing blues classics from the 1920's to the present day.

THE CARDIGAN ARMS a late Victorian drinking palace designed by Leeds architect Thomas Winn, and has been called 'the best live music venue in Leeds' .

Really really really chuffed to say we have six dates filled...one a month and NYE.....

So please do pass the news that the cardi is back...gonna be a long hard slog but our brief is 50 bookings in 2015.

Have you taken over the whole pub or just the gigs bit? That could be a great pub if anyone gave a shit about it.

Yeah, what Tom said. It's my local, but I would not drink there socially.

Have you done anything to the gig room? After the bar was removed it just looked a bit shit up there, the pretty craply filled in windows didn't help much like.
Is there going to be an improvement in the beer served? I've not been for a while, but last time I went it was bloody awful.

I rehearsed up there for months and have some strong opinions on the venue. Hopefully positive. It is great news that they are staying monthly. The reputation needs serious TLC. Hopefully Royal Park Cellars do the same.

    These are major changes but......

The stage is at the wrong end of the room.
The beer lines run up to the back left corner where the bar used to be. Best place for it really.
Reinstate the gents loos opposite the bar (all kitted out but used for storage last time I was there)
A ticket desk and gig board at the bottom of the stairs to drag up the passing trade.
A big lock on the private areas upstairs to stop roaming idiots
Maybe give up one of the many private rooms that join the band room for band equipment storage and a green room
Lots of new tables and chairs are needed.
Very few venues have decent lighting to create a nice atmosphere

As always, many people piss and moan but do not offer help. If you need any joinery support then let us know. I hope that you make a good go of it. It is about time the cardigan arms got back off its arse. It is 2014!

I did not want those nice people to think that I was making negative comments so I offered to help. You know, with my hands...in the real world. After all The Cardigan Arms was my local pub for a long time and i'd like to see more non-city centre music venues doing well.

I'll give you a shout and you can come and help lift some plaster boards if you'd like? Do you feel charmed?

Your logic is impeccable. Gotta love that ridiculous guilt trip as well.

the dog still shits there...must get about the little...

the music room is a wreck...the beer is shite...
reminds me off the ........shed loads of venues...some loved some loathed...most lost.

We are only doing gigs at this point....incoming out going past managers are not the same as landlords, landlady's that made a pub their home...hence real pubs suffer cos they do not care the same....

COWL2 that is crap to hear it's your local but does not appeal.
gozzo...gig room is in need of tlc.

BlackFN.....I would love to shout you a beer or a brew and talk to you about all you wrote / say.

There is rehearsal space still available.

New Year's Eve...that is still available.

Is the gig room going to get some tlc?
It just seems to me a bit odd to throw money at getting people in without making the room more appealing.
For instance, I'm not sure how many gigs you're offering £200 to people for, but for those 5 dates you've listed above, you could go part way to actually having an in-house pa. Instead of people having to sort it out themselves, which is likely going to swallow a decent whack of that £200 each time.
