Anyone know what is going on here .we passed there last week noticing a barrier has been installed and the opening narrowed accordingly .is this the end of plane spotting and casual parking here after years of enjoying this area

Dunno but possibly due to late night nefarious activities - not that I know anything about that!!!!!
It's a dangerous access though and since the 2 huge hangers were built plane spotting isn't as good.
Tend to use the cemetary view point and the back lane to Yeadon for my nefarious plane spotting activities!!!!

Many an exhaust pipe was lost while negotiating this bit of land while driving non-off road vehicles! Bit of a blow for the plane anoraks tho... The cemetery view spot is ok for being close to the aeroplanes lifting off the runway or touching down but the bombhills site (Plain Tree Hill) gave a much better overall view of the runway / airport from a sideways viewpoint. Best hike up to the top of the Billing with your bins to get the next best spot..?! Might also be a 9/11 thing where the LBA security bods sussed out that a strategically positioned nutter with an RPG on Plain Tree Hill could cause untold havoc if they wanted to and given whats been going on recently its not an altogether crazy possibility...

Yes that's probably true as regards the terrorist angle , a sign of these dangerous times eh ,the cemetery road venue needs an upgrade to compensate for the loss of plain tree hills but again that's a good vantage point for any terrorists too
