A cake. Legally speaking anyway. McVities went to court over it a while back. Something to do with VAT and biscuits becoming luxury items when you add chocolate to them. It's all on the internet somewhere, I think.

Yes, you are correct on all points. It was eventually settled legally in respect of VAT.

By the way, what do you call a breadcake?

When Bryan Mosley, who played Alf Roberts was given the part in Get Carter, he first consulted his priest to see if he could accept the role, as the violence portrayed in the film went against his religious beliefs.

    Why scuffler?

Why not tussler, brawler, wrangler, scrapper or squabbler? E.G. I'll have potted meat and picallili in a brown squabbler please.

Well it looks like that highly contentious, long running issue has finally been put to rest.

    Which is nice.

Maybe we could propose a name for breadcakes that all LMF users agree on and agree to use all the time...including at home, local chippy, etc.

Can i propose that we call them (and big debt to Agent for this swear filter friendly word):

    'Cockwomble'

e.g 'can i have fish, chips, mushy peas and two cockwombles, please?'

    Good call.

    "Lightly toasted cockwomble"

Derived it's name from the sixth Earl of Cockwomble.

I was in Merton's bakery on Cardy Road yesterday and they had Manchester Tart for sale. Fantastic.
