Senegalese kora maestro Seckou Keita will appear as part of an international bill at Entranced, the Howard Assembly Room’s free event for Light Night Leeds 2016 on Friday 7 October.

The Howard Assembly Room’s atmospheric Victorian interior will be filled with light and sound as musicians take turns to perform from separate stages around the room, and combine forces on improvisations in between:
    • Seckou Keita, winner of the Africa & Middle East category in this year’s Songlines Music Award
    • Lebanese oud player Abdul Salam Kheir
    • Violinist David Le Page and cellist Clare O’Connell performing JS Bach, Le Page’s own radical reworkings of Joy Division and meditative contemporary works by John Tavener and Arvo Pärt
    • Jazz drummer Eric Ford, drawing on rhythms from North and West Africa, Madagascar, Cuba and Brazil
Admission is free, no booking is necessary and audiences can drop in at any time throughout the evening. More info: https://www.operanorth.co.uk/news/i...the-howard-assembly-room-for-light-night-2016
