I've got bags of the buggers! Saw a notice in the local Co-Op today saying that they are no longer legal tender!!! Has anyone else heard about this?

It was up in every shop I've seen for the last couple of months- what rock have you been hiding under?
Banks will still change them for you for the moment and even when they stop the Bank of England will honour them.

Not what I would call hiding, but I have been trapped under three rocks for the past few months: Carboplatin, Herseptin and Tomoxifen, (to give these rock's names), the latter feeling more like a boulder!
Does exchange mean exchange? or do you have to pay your old notes in, and then have to draw your new cash out?

I would say you have to pay it in and then draw it out so obviously it would have to be at your branch.
I once asked if they could change a £20 note for two £10 notes and they said I had to pay it in and then draw it back out again.

So then your cash stash is on your bank statement! Seems like a government snide tactic to uncover tax free cash to me!!
Start a thread on the main forum Malky, let's get to the bottom of this. It will be a winner!
I would do it myself but medusa won't let me!

I wouldn't have a clue to be honest matey...
I do know that it was on the news and pretty common knowledge when it was happening though.
Anyway, more to the point, what are you doing with a load of unspent Twenty Pound notes?
I'll take them as a kind donation to the cause if you're willing to part with them.

I pride myself on not being common.
The 'unspent' twenties are there for a rainy day or for the future, some people may call them 'savings'!
You can have them if you wan't them at a unit price of £20.50 each. This is a great deal as they will soon become collectors items and the return on your investment will soon prove fruitful.

Well... for the cash, I think the Tokina 11-16 wide at minimum f/2.8 beats the pants of the Canon 10-22 at f/3.5, the Sigma 10-20 and the Tamron 10-24.
It's all about saving saving saving. Must stop the boozing...

Sounds like a good deal, they can only appreciate in value and worth.

The thread about the notes stopping being legal tender was started on SF well ahead of the change happening I'm afraid, so you I'm afraid the SF community did get to know about their notes now not being able to buy them stuff.
Sorry to hear about the chemo Hope it has the desired effect of only half killing you whilst it fully kills what you want to be rid of.

Only for a short while while muppets buy them with that in mind. Obsolete (used) notes don't sell for much.
