A goverment security expert yesterday revealed that details you and I put on the internet are actually freely available to anyone who wants them, using sophisticated scanning software he apparently aquired the details of thousands of face book users including names and phone numbers, (I myself managed something similar using only my eyes and something called "The Leeds Phone book") just think the holiday snaps you published could be in anyones hands now!
He also disclosed the shocking news that the pope is probably catholic and bears use the woods as a toilet.

I know, it's shocking the amount of pointless research that's done with our money.

And on the Facebook point, I'm always astonished at the personal stuff that a lot of people put on their pages, even their profile page which anyone can view - mobile phone numbers, the lot! Or maybe it's me being old-fashioned, lol.

I'm astounded too about publishing mobile numbers etc

The worst I've seen is a program called something like "Under age and having sex" where there were a couple of girls from Wales messing about on Bebo, they went into a chat room, met a guy they didn't know, swapped mobile numbers, imediately phoned him up and then agreed to meet in an hour! This is serial killers heaven.

And today there is another Daily Mail type threat to privacy

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-10850875

Using some cool technology and a database built by the google streetview cars, you can pin point a web user to within 10 metres (ish)

Personally I think its quite cool and is already used in mobile phones to show you where you are or where the nearest pub is, very handy!

I had to laugh when I heard this one, even the people on FB aren’t as naïve as they used to be.
