How's about, (Savile speak) a reference section, where members can add links they come across and add them, for the use of other members. eg: Leeds postcodes that I've just added. Maps, both new and ancient, archival records, and items of Leeds interest, would serve to refer members to and save them searching. May also cut down on inane arguments, as well as attracting new members by having a place where, 'if they don't know, they can soon find out'
I know there's wikipedia etc. but if there are relavent Leeds and other links, the answers are there, in an instant.

A good idea Derc, here's a good volume to start off with http://www.guardian.co.uk/leeds/2011...iting-heritage that refers to http://www.amazon.co.uk/Leeds-Change.../dp/0955469937, amongst other things. [How Leeds changed the World]. Even that gazetteer volume is far from the end of the story. One interesting fact that I gleaned from the volume when skim reading it in Waterstones is that Leeds can lay claim to having erected the first ever iron frameworked building. [a precursor to how skyscrapers are now built, using steel frameworks]. However, as ever, there are competing claims, chiefly for Ditherington Flax Mill in Shrewsbury.

I enjoyed 'skim' reading the link cybero. Mick McCann seems quite a Leeds guy, he sums up Leedsness to a tee. Great for the ref. file, if the mods ok the suggestion. I'm going to find that Waterstone's gift voucher I've had for 2 years now.

Joe and fellow mods, thought I'd show this as another example for the proposed reference section.
Here's a cool map of all the pubs in Leeds http://twitpic.com/6o6xzl/full

Does 'no reply' mean the proposal is being thought about ?

Possibly so,Derc. The company that creates that London Underground style map also creates them for other cities and places of interest too, BTW.

Works . BTW Is it exactly the same bg picture Stuart or is it a different one on other pages?
It could be the opacity / transparency upon the menu overlays but we don't get those lovely iron railings showing through as clear upon some pages as others.
Just wondering.
Otherwise it works very reliably upon my quick fire test.
By the way if you get some negative feedback from some Android users do not be too surprised. Apparently WebKit embedded browser on Androids has been known to crash such devices to the core with perfectly good markup and PHP. Good news, Google, [we are not evil] , are rolling out a dedicated all Android devices Chrome browser. So long as all Android users upgrade and update to that [would have thought the word would get around pretty quickly on that score] then such problems , which might not even beset your site, by the way, will presumably cease to be a matter of concern and report.

Hi Stuart, enjoyed your site, just found the blue and purple headers diffycult to read, the white and pale green headers were easier. Be good ref for 'Where's it happening' or 'What's on' ...Lovely
