Hi Everyone,
I am new on here and I am also fairly new to Leeds. I live in the city centre and am really struggling to meet people in the city. Sounds silly really when there is probably lots going on, but i am struggling to find out about it. I want to meet people around my won age (20) and to get involved in what is going on in the city. I am not in to drinking and clubbing but just meeting new people and making friends. I am also interested in joining new clubs or classes. Does anyone have any suggestions, I have tried different things but not really got anywhere... thanks

What kind of things interest you? There are bound to be lots of clubs and classes that you could join up to and meet people that way.
For example I'm Pagan and have met lots and lots of lovely friends by going on Pagan forums and eventually going on some of the meet ups.

Try city socialising- I was a member a while back and they do lots of fantastic things. You have to pay but I can vouch for it being genuine. I was initially worried about what type of people would be there but there are lots of 'normal' (I hate that word) people who are just like you wanting to expand their social circle and social life.
I only stopped as I did not seem to have time to take full advantage of the membership!

Why not look out for events in your area. That is a good way of meeting people especailly if the events are something that you like to do.

There is that meet ups website - www . meetup . com and there are dozens of Leeds based groups for all kinds of activities and social things. I've lived in Leeds all my life and when I joined the website last year I met dozens of new people and I now go on organised walks and cycle rides, plus we meet up in the city for the monthly socials. The meet up website is FREE to use and you can join the groups for free. Sometimes there might be like a 50p charge if you go on an organised walk or something, but mostly it costs nothing. I can guarantee if you check out the meet up dot com website that you could be meeting lots of new people within a few days!
Good Luck!
Johnny

Hey, have you thought about going to a BettaKultcha event? Don't let the name put you off, it isn't just about culture, it can be quite random but a great place to meet new people if you are new to the city. http://bettakultcha.com/
p.s. just realised its under sports - sorry, but if you want to go to an event to meet people it's a good one!

If you got neighbors at your same age, it would be cool to be their friends so that they can guide you to familiarize the place. Or else, find online and join classes that interest you like what "beastylaus" suggested

It depends on your job too...lots of professions will have their own "secret" little places to meet! There are loads of places to go to meet people. For example, the architects still meet up in the bars around the calls every friday after work.

Hi,
Come along and try a Popdance class! Classes run in Leeds City Centre and Headingley on Thursday evenings, we learn fun dance routines in a relaxed environment. Both classes are new so the group sizes are faily smll, so it's a great way to get to know new people.

There are salsa classes pretty much every day of the week in leeds!
Check out leedssalsacalendar.tueeyo.com for the full list.
My reccommendations would be Baracoa on a Tuesday and a Wednesday, and La Boheme on a Sunday. Lots of friendly people!

If you google a website called meetup (I'm new on the forum so can't post a link yet) you'll find quite a few options that might be of interest. Quite a variety of subjects including walking groups, reading groups, cinema groups etc and I think you can start your own group as well. You could probably forward the link to your contact list as well.
Good luck and welcome to Leeds. I came to Leeds from Sheffield in 1969 to go to Trinity and All Saints in Horsforth and I've never left. Apart from 2 years in Glastonbury but that's another story!
